I've been away from Daisy as a project for a while now, so what better way to get back into it... creating Daisy herself! It's been a bit of a secret goal of mine to create a humanoid character. Admittedly, she's not entirely 100% realistic - after all, she's kind of cartoony in character. Exaggerated features - although modelling a human these days could be as easy as letting something like Poser do all the work for you. Where's the fun in that?

So I went back to the trusty Joan of Arc tutorial for guidance. It's the same tutorial I used to create the head of the simian guard, although I'm taking main pointers from the tutorials and using them to aid me. Daisy's face is a strange one - there's feminine features but some small manly touches like her chin which make her look a bit more battle-hardened.

The challenge was to represent her head in 3D - I've always come to draw it in 2D, though this needs to be 3D and look acceptable and - well - Daisy, from all angles. Click on the image on the left for the first stage where I'm using some profile sketches to help with lining up her profile in front and side views.
